Segmented Pentatonic

Here is just a Kirk Hammett pentatonic scale broken up into segments, played descending. A cool phrase really doesn't have to be harder than this. Notice how we add the flat fifth ("13") to the pentatonic scale.

E minor pentatonic scale (blue dots = root notes, grey dots = flat fifth). This scale works with the chords Em, F#dim, G, Am, Bm, B7, C, D.
