Bended note, very interesting.
Actually, that is yet another "new" vibrato style,
that way you go lower than the original note which gives totally different flavor.
Let's stick to some not so wide vibratos for a sec, maybe semi tone bends in vibrato.
Imagine we're in a key of C and we play note E, semi tone up is F
and vibrato doing semitone up would work just fine.
But what if we play note C?
Semitone up is C#, not so great in a key of C.
Prebend works great in that situation, you prebend semitone (from B to C)
and doing vibrato from C down to B, back to C etc etc.

Try that playing any ordinary lick or melody, try with whole tone vibrato and prebends as well,
really cool and refreshing.

This with Fusion cannot be explained in one post as it requires far more
analyzing, playing, composing etc.

But I can give you some tips regarding Fusion Jam Lesson tho.

It's in a key of Bm and yes, you can use Bm pentatonic as well.
The problem is whatsoever if you over use it, you might end up sounding more bluesy or heavy metal
since "fusion" sound that we are after is a bit more than just a pentatonic scale.
Next choice is B Dorian which I used a lot in the lesson.
I hope you do have some modal knowledge so I will miss to explain Dorian mode.
You can push your views a lot further by using neighbor tones,
that way you get more chromatic and more fusion flavor.
And if you succeed to use all possible neighbor notes you'll end up by using a full chromatic scale,
you'll have all 12 notes at your disposal, now it's just up to you how to use them.

And don't be afraid of using mine or anyone else's licks,
it's quite impossible to play your own licks without learning from others before that.
I have done that and I'm pretty sure everyone else have so go for it,
expand your lick library and you'll be there sooner as you think.

Actually I have 2 but most of the time I find my self doing it with mouse!
For backing track of this kind is quite simple to go with the mouse imo,
you draw a chord and copy it afterward, with slight editing as different chords appears.
Similar goes for bass, you make a bar of your groove and copy it
with adjusting notes as chords change.
You can try both ways nonetheless, everything is fine as long as it works for you.

I didn't use amp for that demo, I plugged AxeFx straight into my E-MU audio card, that's all.
Unit is amazing and I enjoy it all the time, dunno what else to say.
But it's probably not for everyone.
It's kind a expensive, it has no poweramp section and cab and some people prefer
to have that "air in face" effect when playing so they use poweramp and cabs
which builds expenses even more.
For me, I use it straight into computer, mixer, PA or whatever,
I use regular monitoring on stage just like keyboardists do and that's pretty much it,
less to carry around.

The thing with picking from the wrist is that you cannot separate it totally from your forearm,
no matter how focused you are on using your wrist only there is nothing you can do
to exclude your forearm from working, that's the anatomy.
So there's no reason to be "afraid" of using your forearm a little, specially when reaching your limits,
that's fully normal.
As you practice more and more you'll reach higher limit and you'll become more and more relaxed
which also means less and less use of your forearm.

So practice as you have been practice and try not to use forearm ONLY,
everything else will come in place in time.

I use it in the very same way just without ear monitors but using floor wedgies,
straight into PA, no amps, no cabs, no nothing.
The only reason why people still use power amps and cabs with AxeFx ( as far as I understood)
is that they need all that loudness on stage, air kicking in the back etc.
I dunno, seems like I got too old and I got soooo tired of all that loudness etc,
plus I have less to carry (in your case less roadies to hire).
I came across no problems so far, it sounds damn transparent in mix and it cuts through in a second.
All you need is good monitoring mix and that's pretty much it.
The only "problem" is editing the unit itself, it's extremely deep and I'm pretty much scared of all those options,
so far I have been using couple of factory presets edited just a little bit to my taste,
amount of gain, EQ, mix of certain effects and stuff like that, no further.
But all those routings available, amp block advanced page....man...that's deeeeep.
