Wow, they are great! I'm not a fan of black metal, but I dig the music. I like the grooves, some sections relate to some small extent to Gojira to me.

I just realized I recognized the location in this video. It's the BASILICA CISTERN, a marvel of Byzantine construction that is essentially a large indoor water storage tank under a huge Masque in Istanbul, Turkey. It's a bit interesting to think how a band like Melechesh got permission to shoot in a Masque but well done on the video!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_Cistern Wanted to share a relatively new band called MELECHESH. They started out as Black Metal (Yes, Satanic Metal) in Jerusalem of all places. I can't imagine it was easy being in a Satanic Band in the Holy land. They have since drifted away from being "Black Metal" and now call themselves "Mesopotamian Metal" which blends Middle Eastern musical/folk elements and Death Metal. While I appreciate the musicality in Black Metal, I've never been a fan of the form as such just as the lyrical content does tend to be repetitive as you might imagine. (Yes yes, Death, Satan, death, satan, we get it, fight ensues) Anyhoo, here is a vid. Check em out |
