Hi All,
I am currently doing the Beginner Solo in D lesson and I have the first part OK but once I get to the Alternate picking 16th triplets I just can't move my fingers fast enough.
How do you get your fingers to move this fast. Is there an exercise? I have been using a metronome but at this rate it'll be 2010 before I can manage the necessary speed. One other thing is that I am 37 so am I trying to do this at a bit of a late stage in life?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, there are many exercises you can do...
Practicing this exercise really helps your Alternate picking and fingering
*the Dark note is the note on which the metronome click comes
E|----------------------------------------------------1--2--3--
2--3-4----------------------------
B|------------------------------------------
1--2--3-----------------------2--3--4----------------
G|--------------------------------1--2--3-------------------------------------------
2--3--4-----
D|----------------------
1--2--3------------------------------------------------------------------etc
A|------------1--2--3-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
E|--
1--2--3----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instead of 1--2--3 you also need to practice 1--3--4 / 1--2--4 / 1--3--5
I can make up endless exercises but i'm to lazy to type them all
Anways, you can practice every partern which you can think of !! Just check out all 3 note per string Ap stuff on this great site! And remember to start slowly and gradually build up
Hope this helps a bit
Mark.
