....Guess when your Yngwie, it dosn't matter much.. Is it just me, or does the frets on his models look HUGE! What are they, like some extra, extra jumbo's or something?

What a great collection he has Funny how he keeps them stacked one on the other without special stands or something Those with "huge" frets have scalloped neck so they seem that way.

Yngwie Malmsteen says: "And these are Malmsteen cables, I like them very much..."
Now he is a real strat addict...
And yep, those are scalloped necks, though the frets do seem a bit thick

According to a friend that once jammed with Yngwie, he threw a strat at another guitar player for him to jam, and they were like, "Are you insane, it could break", the guy said "don't worry about it, I have another 100 at home".
This is what my friend (drummer) told me, don't know if it is true

Yngwie is Yngwie. The guy is a superb player, and the father of neo-classical shred, but there are times when I'd like to wring his neck. I saw a video of him purchasing a '60s era Strat at a store in the UK for 3500. He took the guitar to his limo, then he threw it onto the floor in the back. It must be nice to have that kind of money, though I wouldn't treat a guitar that way, especially a nice vintage one. Oh well...

He's a great player but i just hate him and his ego..

I would assume that Yngwie treats other people about the same way he treats those guitars. I could be wrong, he could be a person who just places no value in material objects, and be great to people. But I doubt it.
Imagine you had a rich 6 year old kid who behaved like that? What would you think of a kid who threw around objects you dream of owning like that, right in front of you? Which is what he is doing there.
Disappointing when a person you wanted to respect, gives you a strong indicator that to know him, is to hold him in contempt.

Youd be about right. i read in an interview with his former manager that he constantly talked about killing anyone who made him angry; his friends, his wife, his fans, the man is a complete maniac. he threatened his wife with a loaded shotgun when she asked him not to go on tour again for a few months. crazy.

I agree he's of his head LOL amazing guitarist though, I try to concentrate on his playing and ignore the fact he's probably a pratt

I don't. I concentrate on Marcus L, Gabriel, Lian, and others who have picked up what he has to offer, and who probably are pretty nice guys if you got to know them I suspect.

he's got so many vintage and expensive guitars, they should be locked up in a vault or something, not in a tiny room stacked against one another. Every time one of those guitars clank together, i wince like i'm the one in pain.... He should totally give out those guitars... to us

I think this proves that not every guitar player care about his gear as much as you guys do. Its a wood with strings that make sounds, nothing more nothing less.

He has really mellowed a bit from his early days which is good. He's always been an amazing player but used to be just so full of himself it was hard to listen to him talk. He's a lot cooler these days.
Anybody ever play one of his line of custom strats they made for a while that were scallopped? (sp)

They're his guitars, he can do whatever he wants with them. I actually kinda respect the fact that he just throws his valuables around. To me, this means that he utilizes his wealth to live his life as he pleases, and not be concerned about what so called vintage guitar aficionados think about him and his handling of his own instruments. Guitars come and go, but the players that make them sing remain forever in our collective conscious.

I played the latest incarnation of his signature Strat, with the new Seymour Duncan YJM Fury's, and it is a fantastic guitar. Even unplugged it sounds stellar.
