I needed these vibrato series so much to expand my guitar knowledge to non-shred playing, playing with feeling... And now I believe to finally be capable of writing a nice mellow song. Thank you so much for this, Ben...
i love this series ben, you got a killer vibrato going on.
Thank you Mate.. it's always great to see people appreciating this important aspect of guitar playing :-))
I think I'm going to recommend your vibrato lessons to the members on the forum...
Thank you, you guys... :-) Who knows, maybe one day, I'll play some more notes, haha ?
Nice melodies, man!
Another great lesson Sensei Ben-sama
Cool man, vibrato is a must!
Fantastic !!
Great lesson about a crucial topic!
Excellent!
Hi everybody... Wow - thank you ! What can I say, the feedback is amazing from you all. I'm happy that this has really helped people and hope it will continue to do so ! :-)
love it ben, this is a MUST for EVERY guitar player in ANY level.
Excelent series, very carefully played. Congratulations.
great control of bends! nice musical piece
Amazing control, man! You are so good!!
That's some fundamental stuff, well done Ben.
Beautiful sound and outstanding control. Could you upload the backing tracks for this lesson series so far or send it via personal message so I can upload my take?
This series has opened a whole new world to me. I hope you keep on doing vibrato lessons even if you already have presented the most fundamental techniques. Maybe now for a super aggressive vibrato?
Thanks man, I owe you.
Thank you, Kris.. it's an honour that the master has learnt anything from me ;-)
I hope people get a lot from this series.. it will always be here for people to discover when they are ready !
Awesome Ben. I am a big fan of this series - I actually think I have managed to improve my vibrato in just a couple of months.
Also I know that this specific topic - bend and then applying vibrato is something a lot of people ask about!
Looking forward to the next installment!
Hi GMC'ers !
Welcome to the 3rd part of my Vibrato Odyssey ! This time the focus is on adding vibrato to bends.
Keeping with the theme of complete control, I'd like you to explore bending a string but waiting before you add any vibrato. Many of us develop an automatic way of playing vibrato which ends up being the same every time we play a note. In order to avoid falling into this trap.. make a conscious choice when to add any expression.. and how much. You may decide not to add any vibrato at all. It's all your choice..... and by holding a note and waiting, this gives you the freedom of choice back. It also gives your playing a 'maturity', like a master in control.. rather than than the young novice racing for the finish line :-)
If you followed parts 1 & 2 of this series then the vibrato shouldn't present too much of a problem. In the string bending I introduce a few bends similar in style to Dave Gilmour and Marty Friedman, which involve bending up to a note.. and then bending up further. Watch your accuracy here... you won't want out of tune bends the next time you're playing a super rock ballad on top of a mountain !!! ;-)
So, explore this concept and enjoy the new found freedom it gives you. I hope you enjoy this lesson and I will see you next time !
Remember, the only opponent is within !
