  • Hey GMC'ers! Today’s lesson is a tribute to modern metal soloing and to one of the genre’s most influential young players: Marco Sfogli! Marco is a well balanced combination between flawless technique, phrasing, roundness, feel, and melody. You should listen to his recordings (that is if you haven’t already done this) in order to get a pretty good idea about him.

This lesson shall be focusing on aspects of his style of phrasing and it is based on the harmonic progression of my previous one, “Metal Metrics 1” and it should offer some insight about building a solo in the modern metal context. Pay attention to execute the notes as clearly and percussive as possible, so that you may sound tight!
