    [b]
Welcome to my new lesson. This time we are taking a look at playing in 10ths! Don't worry its easier than it sounds. A 10th is just the as a 3rd but an octave higher, this gives us a chord using the root note and a 10th. The great thing about these chords is that they give the listener the information they need to decide whether they are hearing a major or minor tonality but the use of the octave to get the 10th creates a very open chord sound that can be used very melodically.

Songs to check out that use this style are; Blackbird by the Beatles, Many of Horror by Biffy Clyro and 'Hold Back the River' by James Bay.

In the third video I show an easy way to find 10ths using normal barre chords but I also show how to find them using scales, I do encourage this a lot as you will find interesting ways of playing these beyond just using transposable shapes.
