  • Hi and welcome to my first tapping lesson.

This lesson demonstrates how you can compose interesting lines using just one simple tapping pattern. The chord progression is Am, G, Dm and E. I am just targeting 3 notes that are in the right scale and move through the scale up and down. This technique got very popular when Van Halen introduced it on his famous song "Eruption". This pattern is slightly different. You have both hammer on and pull off with the left hand. About the right hand make sure that you pull of strong when you tap the note. Do not just move your finger away from the fretboard. You really need to pull it off almost like with the pick in order to get the right tapping effect.

I left all the scales and patterns used and you can try to come up with something in different positions or different strings.

Sound advice: You need some nice and warm drive and noise gate to avoid unarticulated notes. You can also use some improvised string dampener on the 1st fret, even a sock can help :) Mute other strings with both hands as much as possible.

I hope you will like this one. Happy Tapping!!!

    Emir
