  • Hello GMC. Welcome to my Arpeggio study in Bb major scale lesson.

In this lesson I applied a couple of different concepts to help you learn 4 note arpeggios in fun way. First thing - what are arpeggios? The answer is notes that exist in the chord played one after another in specific order. What is a chord? 3 or more notes played together.

Having said all this, in this lesson I am using inversion of arpeggio. So basic Bb maj7 arpeggio is Bb D F A. This is also known as Root inversion because Root is in the bottom (first note that we play). 1st inversion would be D F A Bb, 2nd inversion would be F A Bb D and 3rd inversion would be A Bb D F. This lesson uses 4 note arpeggios that are all starting with 3rd inversion.

In future lessons we will cover more in depth the theory and harmony behind scales chords arpeggios intervals sequences and many other things. For time being focus on playing this and try to apply these arpeggios in your improvising and/or over appropriate chords!

I would just like to mention some other interesting things about this lesson:

    - We use 2 notes per strings and use all the strings
    - Every arpeggio is played in 3 octaves which means that we cover whole guitar neck
    - Alternate picking is used trough out the whole etude
    - Almost all the time constant 8th note rhythm is used

Hope you found this lesson useful. It should expand your knowledge of the fretboard, teach you how to play 4 note arpeggios, improve your alternate picking and expand your improvisation and song writing skills.

Spoken video is included in the lesson but do let me know if you have any questions regarding this lesson.

Have fun playing this and jamming over backing and I look forward hearing from you via forums.
