Flyleaf Style Lesson

Hello Friends of GMC! In this opportunity we will study Flyleaf’s particular style! But before, a bit of information of the band!

The members already had appeared previously with different names including List and finally Passerby, where they were more recognized in Texas. With the names like Sporos (Sameer and Jared) and The Grove (Pat Seals). In 2005 Flyleaf extracted to the light his first album of long duration of the hand of the acclaimed producer Howard Benson, who previously has worked with bands of the Pope's height Roach, My Chemical Romance, POD and All American Rejects.

Before the album the band had to change name of "Passerby" to "Flyleaf", since another band already had registered the name. In last instance (authority), the group decided to change his name to something much more identical to his personal characteristics, to songs of spiritual inspiration.

The style of the band has considered between the Christian Rock, for his letters clearly inspired by the experiences of the band, this way also like in the genre of the Nu Metal. It differs partly to other groups of Rock with feminine voice for the guttural shouts that there exercises the vocalist Lacey Mosley in certain songs.

This lesson is based in the song "Fully alive" it is one of my favorite’s songs since it is the more complete for the study of Flyleaf style. Dropped D tuning! In the introduction we can listen to powerful guitars play riffs in the tonality of D minor, melodic chords progressions and a experimental solo. The study of this style is very important to create your own songs. We'll use some techniques as Palm muting and down picking in this lesson.
