Hello everybody. Let´s go in to studying a composition in Alegrías. Alegrías is a very important style in flamenco repertoire. It is characterized for a variety of rhythm, and a great sense of movement and sensual phrasing. In Spanish "alegrías" means happiness, so you must perform it with grace and optimism. The style is derived from Soleá, and the accents are in the same position: 3, 6, 8, 10 and 12. But the tonality is major, and the feeling is very different. This style was born from the Cádiz people, when mixed the flamenco rhythms with the "jota", a type of popular song from Aragón, in the north of Spain. Enjoy!
