Fingerstyle Octaves Lesson

Hello GMC!
-In todays lesson we are going to practice playing octaves on bass using fingerstyle technique.Playing octaves is very important aspect of your bass vocabulary. Also its quite simple to do and adds a lot of color and ideas to your own bass lines. Playing octaves can be heard in all styles of music and its especially used in funk and disco music.

-Today we are going to practice them in a groove situation.You are going to learn different patterns and and how to keep your right hand alternating.Also you will practice string skipping which is very important technique on bass.

-You are going to practice C minor scale along with this groove because every note played here will belong to that scale.

-Key: Cm
-Tempo: 150 bpm
-Time signature: 4/4
-Difficulty: beginner
-Tuning: standard EADG

Equipment I used for getting this sound was: Peavey Cirrus bass with active soapbar pickups, equal mix of both of them with added bass and treble on onboard eq - then going to the nemesis(eden) amp with a 1x15" and slightly added bass and treble there (at 1 o'clock position).
