Hi everybody, in this second lesson of "I Got Rhythm Guitar" we will take a step back to the basic of Rock/Metal Rhythm Guitar, and we will start with a technique that every good guitar player should know: Palm Muting.

What this techniques does is cut-off the tail of one or more notes, resting slightly the palm of the hand on the bridge where the string cames out from the saddle, in a karate chop style.

Starting from this position, moving the hand toward the neck will give you a more percussive sound,
moving toward the bridge, will give you more sustain and less muting. Experiment whit little adjustment until you will find the right sound for you!

This Lessons Will Improve:

Palm Muting
Right Hand Stamina
Time Keeping

Palm Muting Primer
------------------
I've tried to make the next exercise as musical as possible, but it's no more than a rhythmic reading, based on eight-note and sixteen-note, the most common in rock/metal riffing. In the next lesson we will move on something different: "Robben Ford Blues Style" then we will go back to "left hand muting"

Recommended Listening
---------------------
Palm Muting is so widely used that every good guitarist is a "Recommended Listing" anyway, Metallica, Dream Theater, Pantera etc. etc.

Pro Tips
--------
Angling a little bit the pick in combination with this technique will give you a huge muted hard rock sound.
