Have fun.
Ahhhh yes the "lost art" of jazz rhythm guitar! I'm looking forward to digging into this one.
Thanks Mats,appreciate it!
cool , muris i love wes montgomery!
Mats.
You're welcome, dive into it and let me know if you need anything
Thank you Muris, you gave me the taste of jazz. I though jazz was too hard but I was wrong.
Thanks Carlos!
excellent lesson and nice job!!!!!!!!
thanks Muris
Keep it up Eddie.
Ouch... Some chords are really hard to get!
But it's great for studying chord construction!
Cheers
Sure, give it a try and ask if you need anything!
Man, these are some hard chord shapes... Having a hard time with them, but I'm getting there very slowly
Thanks man, I'll give it a shot. The problem right now is biggest when my index finger must fret the D-string at the same time, but I'll try to work it out.
Don't worry about length of your fingers and thumb,
I'm sure it's fine,it needs some practicing to get used to it just like everything else.
Try practicing regular major and minor chords on all 6 string,
Just play 6th string with your thumb while holding small bare with index finger
on top 2 strings for majors, and on top 3 strings for minors.
That'll prepare you nicely for more advanced chords like in here.
My thumb is in pain
I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it since I've never used my thumb to fret before, but is there any way I can train it? And is it possible to do it wrong or are my fingers just too short?
Hi ZZ
Yeah,I make chord progression and then I simply jam over it.
Why D#m7/-5?
Cause it feels so natural, has all the same notes as DM7,
all you have to do is move root note.
yeah and nice solo by the way
wow muris, man i'm really impressionated! Bravo
did you follow a chord progression when you composed that, or did it just come in your head like this .. i'm mean in the first video you used
D#m7/5- D#dim, so how did it came to you to do this, why didn't you do
D#713 D#7 for example.. i know it's a weird question, but it's because i would like to compose something and i don't really know how to start, i need a beginning, something to hold on ....
thanks for your lesson man, you really rock
Great job Muris
Looking forward your solo
Jazz and blues are what im trying to learn! THIS IS GREAT muris your my hero
Sorry,typo error,notes are F#,A#,C#,E and G.
Ahh,something new for a change,thanks mate
Yknow what Muris, I figure you must get bored of all the positive comments, so I'm going to break the mould ;
I have to say that was complete rubbish
(Luv'd it really )
Jazz on saz,must be funny
the left hand thumb must be no problem you have to use it when you play saz ..
Nice chordal workout Muris, smooth and jazzy. Versatile player you are.
Good one.
You see, you can build every chord in progression up to 7th,9th,11th etc.
Just go by thirds but in key scale and you'll stay in key,no out notes.
But Jazz offers more freedom so you can "shift" some notes up or down.
Main thing about intervals is this:
minor 7 is 7
major 9 in 9
perfect 11 is 11
major 13 is 13(same as 6 but in octave higher)
Quick example:
There's F# 7/-9 chord in the lesson,notes are F,A#,C#,E and G.
All notes are fine(A# as well cause it has dominant role for B minor)
Now take a look and 9th,it is note G and G is also in D major scale.
BUT as I explained intervals before, this is minor 9th so it's assigned with -,
major 9th would be just 9 and it'd be note out of key/scale,G#.
I actually have a question, 'cus I've always loved jazz, but the chord construction and their names have always somewhat confounded me.
What chords and chord structures are typical for jazz? In this lesson it is obvious that some minor 5ths, some 7ths, 9ths, 13ths etc. stand out from standard progressions, but are there some ground rules to follow?
Ahhhh I feel all relaxed now
A good introduction to jazz. Thankyou Muris
You're more than welcome!
If you have any other questions tho please ask.
Thanks Muris for clearing that up
Thanks guys!!
Yes,add means added or additional so that note isn't actually part of the chord,
I'm taking about building chords by triads,3rd,5th,7th,9th,11th etc.
Great lesson Muris! Can't wait for the solo
Boy, you cover so many different styles and always sound great!
Amazing, I have to learn this. Thanks.
great lesson Muris, Jazz is a style i must incorporate in my playing for various reasons.
But what does the "add" means in a chord? "additiona"?, i know dim means diminished, aug augmented, but add?
Just what I needed right now. I was wondering though, what is "swing"? How do you make a swing rhythm?
nice swing
great lesson Muris, Jazz a really pretty style
Great lesson Muris !!
Yes! thats the spirit good one Muris, and like Kris said, its lovely to see more jazzy stuff here.
perfect muris
Thanks guys
DeepRoots, "+" is sign for #-sharp and "-" is for b/flat.
It's used in chord structure but not when talking about intervals alone.
Excellent, as always!
I second Iluha, and add that you are very productive too, coming up with lessons almost daily.
Nice work!
wonderful muris
You'r like the ultimate guitarist, any style you play sounds amazing
Hey Muris- i see some + and - signs in the chord names, could you explain what this means about the chord's construction please?
Thanks
Wow, very relaxing tune, Muris!
But the best part of it is improvising over it ;-D, so I can't wait for the solo! =D
