Hello GMC! This lesson is a new rocker lesson in the style of something called Stoner Rock. Don’t worry! It’s not a Rolling Stones style lesson!
The stoner rock is a style that has its roots in the early Black Sabbath albums (with Ozzy). The first band that has been catalogued like Stoner was the Californian band called Kyuss. This is the Wikipedia definition of the style: “Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo, with a low-tuned, bass-heavy sound and psychedelic jam. It is riff-oriented and often contains significant repetition with variation. Melodic vocals and 'raw' or 'retro' production are also common traits”.
This sound (that has been influenced by Sabbath) has influenced lot of bands like QOTSA (feat. Joshua Homme from Kyuss) , Spiritual Beggars, Monster Magnet, Corrosion of Conformity, Down, Mastodon, Nebula, etc.
I composed and recorded this lesson trying to reflect this style riffs and sound. I hope that you like it.
I used E pentatonic minor and some power chords to compose the lesson and you'll find different techniques like bending, vibrato and double-string bends. It's also a great lesson to practice triplets.
