Beautifully played ! Very much like Cliffs of Dover, you really nailed Eric's sound, David !
Also, the beat on his recording with backing is about 93, not 100 as in the separate backing track. 100 seemed fast, so I checked it out, and indeed, it was. I don't think he used a metronome in video 2, so the beat while approximately 93, varies a bit I think, as on would expect.
From cliffs of dover, one of the best guitar solos.
Great!
Great EJ lesson David. i'll definitely have a go at this sometime.
I am not sure that David is around anymore, however, for anyone interested, we have an two errors in tab in video 6 (tapped and slide notes). But I am sure it is obvious to most or all, does not sound right as tabbed.
good lesson, thanks !!
David!!!Great lesson...Very creative...
nice lesson
great sound!! love that
style good job
Well your very welcome Smikey2006, I love anything to do with EJ meself - he's a great guitarist's role model I find ... the talented git .
I love this lession.. thanks david
In Ireland now, the 'quid' is no more as we have the Euro. I don't know if there is a slang word for the Euro as here in Switzerland it's the Swiss Franc.
Yes indeed whatever they may be called, it seems you can never have enough of them .
That sounds like a party pleaser David...sounds great
BTW, what is a quid? Im a yank (ugh...hate the word)..how about Im a good ol' boy from the southern states
Ah great, glad you got it sorted. That GP is pretty comprehensive and takes a while to get used to , sure does. I know the feeling . D
I discovered what was wrong in my case. If i click on gtr clean or gtr solo at the bottom, all is well. It defaults to gtr taps when you start up, and just about nothing is there. I am new to guitar pro, so was not aware of this.
re: jammer91 - the L's represent 'tied notes" (length/how long you play the note).
So for example you hit a note (pick it once), but hold it for it's own duration (length), plus the duration of the next note.
The best way to get the exact length of the note is to listen closely to how long its held - the L's and similar markings put in by GP are just ways of notating the music.
You can write in music/notes in different ways, depending on who's writing the notation and how he perceives it (or in this case the computer program).
But as I mentioned it's a direct taking from the GP transcript and not necessary.
re: gstan - I use v. 5.2, I think its the latest version as far as I can see. yup I took out them thar L's as mentioned above .
I don't understand why the file isn't working for you. I have tried it from here and it seems fine? Any ideas on that Kris?
D
what version guitar pro do you use? I can't get your file to work. even went and reinstalled my program...still nothing...and what does all the LLL's mean in your tab??
I still dont get the L's....
Can you explain it in an easier way?
Thanks about the L's, that makes is easier (that they were there by mistake), and easier is good.
Oh fkalich I meant to say about the Guitar Pro file that I just tried to open it and it worked ok?
I think GP files have given a few similar problems to users, but a GP update or reinstall on your PC normally fixes it as far as I know. I had to do one myself a while back 'cause I had an older version.
D
Hi fkalich
Yes you dead right on that sorry - I've just fixed that tab up and removed the L's and stuff. The software puts it in automatically and I always take them out.
I overlooked removing it last night when I uploaded the lesson - cheers 4 the nudge .
David
Would you explain a bit what you are trying to say with the "L" notation that you use throughout? I know it is a tied note, but I am real confused here. For example below, what is being tied? Nothing preceded the L's, no notes were played on that string before that. This happens several times. Can't figure it out from the Guitar Pro file, something is with your file, only shows 3 notes, nothing more there. Thanks in advance.

Hiya Ben
Yeh I chanced upon that amp at a small market in Dublin a few years ago. I just happened to see it, had a look, fell in love with it and asked how much.
The stall owner said it wasn't hers but the sons, and to come next week after she spoke with him. I came back for 3 weeks b4 I got an answer. It was 20 quid! My eyes lit up I'm sure + I snapped it up there and then, and there ya go.
It's the best smelling amp I've ever had . Honestly the warm electronic sorta smell when it's switched on, mixed with the valves and probably the dust collecting since the 60s is inspiring ha-ha.
Its a great little box for Bluesy stuff, overdrives naturally. Have to drive it a bit for the Rockier sound but yeh it was good little catch.
You can get a nice Jazzy vibe out of it too - old, warm and woolly .
Thank you David O! Plenty of new techniques for me in one single lesson.
GREAT! :-D
Nice phrasing David, and your tone was pretty spot on!
I love small wattage tube amps!!!
