Hi GMC students! Welcome to the Iron Maiden Style lesson 1 for beginner and intermediate players. In this section we are going to explore Maiden’s most used guitar arrangements, chord progressions, rhythms and licks.
This is a nice two guitars melody harmonized in thirds in the style of Murray/Smith duets.
You can here this kind of guitar arrangement in lots of Maiden’s songs so let’s have a look at the chord progression.

4/4 - Dm - Bb – F – C Bb C – Dm - Bb – F – C Bb C – Fm - Db – Ab –
Eb Db Eb - Fm - Db – Ab – Eb Db Eb -

The progression begins in Dm key but in the 9th measure it modulates to Fm key. This modulation is used very often in Maiden’s compositions.

I played guitar 1 in the video but I made the guitars 1 and 2 tabs for this lesson. The 2nd guitar can be heard in the backing track.

You should learn both guitars and try to create your own harmonized in thirds ideas.

Tempo: 114 bpm
