The basic idea with a Wiki is that all articles are linked to eachother. Throughout all the text you will see links to other relevant articles.
How to navigate
The most common way to navigate at GuitarWiki is to click your way forward via links to new interesting articles. The top menu (above the logo) is always visible and shows the standard options. If you are interested in a specific topic, there are portals covering the main areas. You reach the portals from the main page. On the bottom of each page you will find Personal Tools, Navigation, and Toolbox menues.
How to search
GuitarWiki has a search feature (left corner above the logo) where you can search for articles explaining specific words or phrases. The search feature is also a good tool to find out if there already exist an article on a topic you wish to cover.
How to write an article
Do you have an idea of a topic you wish to cover in an article, or a word you wish to explain?
Start by searching GuitarWiki to see if it already exist. You do that with the search feature in the top menu (left corner above the logo).
- Type the word or phrase in the search space and press Go. If there is no article covering your word or phrase, your search result will let you know that there is no such page.
Before you move on to create that article, you need to collect an 'article template'.
To use a template, include the following text at the top of your empty page, then save the page.
{{subst:Guitar_Wiki:<Template Name>}}
When you re-edit the page, all the content from the template will have been copied over to your page for you.
For example, to use the General Article Template you would use:
{{subst:Guitar_Wiki:General Article Template}}
Now you can start writing. You can change the headlines and smaller titles, and replace the text in Latin (nonsense text) with your text. To see how your article will look, press 'Show preview'. When you are done 'Save Page'.
You can find a list of available Templates on the Templates page.
