Hi GMC!
Welcome to a new lesson based on a modern funk rock style inspired by bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction and Audioslave.
This lesson is based on a tune that I've composed inspired mostly by the newest RHCP album. As I think that this could be a killer rhythm exercise for GMCers, I've decided to record this lesson that combines single note riffing, palm muting, and triadic chords. This one will not only give you some cool rhythm exercises, it will also illustrate different ways to arrange a song with simple but effective ideas as it happens with the bands cited at the beginning of this text.
Groove, dynamics and tone are essential for this style so please put your focus on each of this elements while learning and practicing this one.
Sound:
I used Poulin plugins to create the guitar tone. These are free amp emulators that are extremely recommended. The cabinet used for this guitar tone is LexTac. Check out the settings:
I used Cubase to record audio and midi, superior drummer for drums and Trillian for bass.
Key: E mixolydian
Tuning: Standard 440
