  • Hey GMC crew!

I was inspired by this great band of aussies so this lesson is a tribute to one of my favorite groups - Dead Letter Circus. Alright, so, what's so special about them? They sound fresh, they have interesting songs combining rhythmic formulas with a very melodic approach. They use delay textures and a lot of crisp tones in their tunes as you will observe.

As a listening session, I'd totally recommend their EPs - Dead Letter Circus, Next in line and their album This is the warning. Without further ado, let's see what is there to learn from this lesson:

    - developing your rhythmic sense
    - chord shapes
    - using the controlled delay
    - learning to phrase in the style of Dead Letter Circus

    Tuning: Drop D - D A D G B E

    Meter: 4/4

    Tempo: 120 BPM

    Scales: D minor

    Tone settings:

    Bass – 10 o’clock, Mids – 9 o’clock, Highs – 2 o’clock, Gain – 10 o’clock, using the crunch channel of my AMT ss20 Pre-amp and keeping my PRS Paul Allender's pick-up switch in the neck position.

Check out videos number 2 and 3 in this lesson for details on the delay settings.
