  • Hi GMC, today we will do a small funky fusion solo lesson. This lesson is the second in a row of three funky fusion solo lessons, each on higher level than the lesson before. This lesson will be the intermediate one for those of you who already mastered the first one, and want to add a bit faster licks to your lick vocabulary.

We will do this solo over a very simple backing track that has only one chord and that is A dominant chord, or A7. Although this chord is only one, there are actually a lot of things that you can do over it using several different scales. In order to sound jazzy we will use neighbour notes and mix several pentatonic scales that can be found within D major key. If you aren’t too keen on analyzing the scales, don’t worry, all of these scales share very similar notes, so soloing will be a breeze.

In this solo the focus is on using arpeggiated passages, AP sequences, and slides.

    Have fun! :)

    C major scale/key
