  • In this lesson we are going to take a look at one of the top Jazz guitarist : Mr John Scofield.

John Scofield is really a unique voice in the world of Jazz and he easily blends elements of Blues, Jazz, Funk, Bebop...with a trademark sound & phrasing, instantly recognizable.

So in a Jazz funk context, we are going to see how he blends the Pentatonic/Blues scale, the Mixolydian mode, the Diminished scale for outside playing and other concepts such as chromaticism/passing tones.

The backing track is a C7 vamp.

I hope this lesson will help you to understand John's playing but also to use & apply all these concepts in your own playing
