  • Hi and welcome to my new lesson. This is a mega lesson for beginners and intermediate players to learn some awesome sweep picking licks from the Masters of Sweep Picking; Yngwie Malmsteen, Cacophony (featuring Marty Friedman and Jason Becker) and Frank Gambale.

Yngwie Johan Malmsteen (born Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck on 30 June 1963) is a Swedish guitarist, songwriter and bandleader. Malmsteen first became known in the 1980s for his neoclassical metal playing style in heavy metal.

Cacophony was an American heavy metal band formed in 1986 by guitarists Marty Friedman and Jason Becker, and signed to Shrapnel Records. They remained active until 1989, after which both guitarists forged their own solo careers and joined other bands.

Frank Gambale (born 22 December 1958) is an Australian jazz fusion guitarist. He has released twenty albums over a period of three decades, and is renowned for his use of the sweep picking and economy picking techniques. - Wikipedia

You will encounter arpeggios that use 3 strings and up to 6 strings, so there are a variety of exciting shapes to learn.

You will also look at how sweep picking can be used in scalar runs, something which is also known as economy picking.

To make things even better, every video contains spoken advice!

Not only that, but in the last three videos, I'll give you six more bonus licks that are higher in difficulty for you to learn once you've tackled the main lesson. Consider these something for further study. I call it the 'Bonus Level!'

Get ready to sweep it up!
