  • Welcome to my latest super lesson. This lesson is an imagining of two giants of guitar, Brian May and Vinnie Moore, coming together and jamming one after the other.

Brian Harold May CBE (born 19 July 1947) is an English musician, singer, songwriter and astrophysicist who achieved international fame as the guitarist of Queen. As a guitarist he uses a home-built guitar, "Red Special". - Wikipedia

Vincent "Vinnie" Moore (born April 14, 1964) is an American guitarist and a member of the English hard rock band UFO.[2] Moore is one of the most influential and important guitarists to emerge from the virtuoso boom in the mid to late eighties. Moore recorded his first solo album, Mind's Eye (1986), released on Shrapnel Records and featured Tony MacAlpine on keyboards. The album received several awards from guitar magazines and sold over 100,000 copies. - Wikipedia

What I've done is taken some of Brian and Vinnie's most recognisable songs and solos, jigged them around and worked them into the riffs and the solos themselves. Rather than do an outright cover of any of their stuff, I like to reference their phrasing but come up with something new.

With Brian's style, you'll be hearing a lot of semi pinch harmonics on the bends and phrasing using the minor pentatonic with an added major 3rd. With Vinnie, the technical level is more demanding, with oodles of arpeggios and some furious alternate picking. However, Brian and Vinnie are both highly melodic players and this is reflected in the lesson, regardless of how many notes there are!

This song will test and hone:

    -Phrasing
    -Bending
    -Alternate picking
    -Sweep picking
    -Stamina
    -Dexterity

There's a lot to digest in this lesson so get ready to dig in!
