  • HEY GMC!

Welcome to another instalment of the beginner series where we look at getting you learning fun pieces with a simple approach that will get you playing properly in no time.

This time round I've put together an arrangement of the Edvard Grieg piece 'New World Theme' which is a beautiful melody that has some strong folk roots to it. The focus on this lesson is to build on using more than one finger but this time moving into a new position. The position refers to where your fingers to fret notes. This piece doesn't have any notes on the first fret so we move our hand up to the 2nd fret where the 1st finger will play and each finger will then play each following fret; fret 2 = finger 1, fret 3 = finger 2, fret 4 = finger 3 and fret 5 = finger 4. This way no finger is ever wasted.

I hope you enjoy the new lesson!
