  • Hi GMC! Today I will show you a piece of one of the songs I wrote when I used to listen Extreme a lot and Nuno Bettencourt was my favorite guitar player, this lesson may not be a mirror of Nuno but it sure has a lot of his style.

It has two tracks, two parts by track and one part with the two guitars playing in the same time. The first one is the melodic part. It’s in the E minor pentatonic scale. The bend in F# (first string 14 fret) is very cool.

The second part begins with a lick based on the Steve Vai´s style, an arpeggio of Em7 in three octaves. It ends falling down with arpeggios of four strings played with sweep picking.
The third part has an arpeggio with tapping of Em, G, A, C and D using Nuno´s Style.
The fourth part is a pentatonic lick in the Gilbert style. The rhythm of this part is very cool. Its ends with a full band part in E pentatonic in the Hendrix style (every one of this guitar players was a Jimmy fan!).

The final part is a lick with two guitars playing the 3°. It’s a phrase in the Gilbert style where I play 6 notes by beat in the E minor scale.

    Have fun!
    /Lucio
