  • HELLO GMC!

In this lesson i'm so excited to bring you something in the style of one of my favourite all time guitarist's JOHN SCOFIELD!

I think that most blues and rock players who delve into jazz for the first time are looking for something they can relate to and jazz fusion often feels closest to home. In a lot of early jazz fusion we find a very 'rock' style of instrumentation/tones over more modal backings.

The go to mode for jazz fusion would have to be the Dorian mode and with it comes a familiar box shape. Our trusted pentatonic minor/blues scale fits beautifully over the Dorian scale but we do want to bring in some of that Dorian 'colour'. So in this lesson I wanted to show you how we can keep our lines very comfortably in the pentatonic box but borrow some Dorian notes for colour and chromaticism.

I really hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together

    HAVE FUN!
