  • Hi guys, Joe Kataldo here, today I wanna face a problem that afflicts most of us guitar player: play out of boxes and positions, creatively over the whole neck!

Break The Pentatonic Box - A minor - 130 bpm
    --------------------------------------------

How many time find yourself playing in the same first pentatonic position, don't knowing what to do next? Yeah I know the answer...me too!

Today musical study presents five different licks/patterns that uses only minor pentatonic, all over the neck, crossing all five shapes, to creatively unlock the potential of them thought as one big scale. Learn and transpose them in different keys, but most important try to write some of your own.

    Techniques Focus
    ----------------

A mixture of legato, slide and alternate picking is present in all five licks, as usual start slowly and build up speed, without compromise accuracy and tone.

    Pro Tips
    --------

All five licks are mainly played on top two strings, experiment with other string sets too, simply translating them or creating some your own.

    See you next lesson,

    Joe Kataldo.
