  • Hello again! Welcome to part 2 of Straight through the heart.

This part will cover the last riffs of the song. The lesson starts off with something familiar from the last lesson to get you going.

Use the videos and tabs together to see where the isolated riffs are played in the lesson. Fingerings and picking directions are included in the tabs.

Techniques used in part 2 include:
Alternate picking, String skipping and position shifts.

Backing tracks are available at different tempos with a full song jam loop and straight through the heart Mp3 to jam with. Hi-hat's have been put in the quieter bits of the track to help you keep time. All backing tracks have a one bar count in.

I used a multi-FX for this lesson as well. You'll need a clean tone with chorus/delay, and a dry main distortion.

Tuning for the lesson from low to high is B, F#, B, E, G#, C#
I used .11 gauge strings ideally replace the low string with a.56 gauge.

The Key of Straight through the Heart is E major we'll be using theis E major scale shape in part 2:

    C#|----------------------------------|
    G#|-------------------------10-12-13-|
    E |----------------9-11-*12----------|
    B |--------9-10-12-------------------|
    F#|-*10-12---------------------------|
    B |----------------------------------|
    2 4 1 2 4 1 3 4 1 3 4

Tempo is 96 BPM. Time signature used for part 2 is 6/8.

    Rock on!

    Ian
