Hey GMC'ers today we check out my Marshall AVT 50X Combo guitar amp. It is a good workhorse amp that is serving me well in most playing situations. Here I try to give you some info and guiding on how I use my amp to create sounds that I need. So I hope you will find some of the things from the tutorial useful.
I purchased this amp new for ~400e. For the price it is excellent work amp, and with its (relatively) small weight (~20kg), it can be carried by one person using only one hand on gigs etc. This is very important to me as we gig often, and I would hate to carry around half stack or anything. I must stop here and write that I would really want a half stack tube amp, but currently this is the best thing I've got and I get the maximum out of it. Also even if I had a half stack tube amp I would still carry this one to gigs because it is light and relatively loud enough.
Besides this amp, the ideal solution for me would be to get a 50W JCM800 tube head or even JCM800 50W combo with side handles to carry around, and those are in my next purchase plans definitely.
Getting the maximum out of your gear is essential when you are a player, specially on electric guitar where there is lot of things involved between the sound and the fingers. Of course - hands are what counts the most, but not knowing your own gear can lead to some unpleasant situations. I've been there so I know!
