  • Hello GMC!
-In todays lesson we are going to play some gallop rhythm on bass.We will be using a pick to play this one.Its a rhythm figure often used in heavy metal music. Its made famous by Steve Harris of Iron Maiden and used by many other bass players..
-To get this rhythm down you will learn a heavy tune I composed for you."Gallop" is great choice on bass as well on guitars to get that "driving" sound to a song.In this lesson you are going to use a pick and practice right hand coordination, pick playing, incorporating gallop in different rhythms and licks.

-I used E phrygian scale for composing this one.

    -Key: E
    -Tempo: 120 bpm
    -Time signature: 4/4
    -Tuning : standard
    -Difficulty: beginner/intermediate

Equipment I used for getting this sound was: Peavey Cirrus bass with active soapbar pickups, equal mix of both of them with added bass and treble on onboard eq - then going to the nemesis(eden) amp with a 1x15" and slightly added bass and treble there (at 1 o'clock position).I used fender medium pick on this one.

Feel free to ask me any questions in the lesson feedback and in my instructor board at forum.

Enjoy and I hope you'll have a lot of fun gallopin' this one!
