  • Hi, GMC! Here is an Italian Renaissance piece from 16th Century, composed by Vincenzo Galilei. Signore Galilei was a lute player, composer, music theorist, and the father of the famous Galileo Galilei. Back then, music and science were considered very close together.

    The piece shown here, Saltarello is a lively hopping dance from Italy.

    This would provide an excellent workout for the right hand thumb control and the left hand legato.
    The 6th string is tuned down to D, and the thumb plays open strings trough out.
