Crimson Glory is the most original progressive metal band!
awesome
Great Lesson Gabe!
Great...I'm watching all you lessons!
Hi Man! I'm glad that you like it! The bass player is called Marcelo Yakko and is the co-funder (with me) of the project Digital Fear. He used a loop female girl that found in internet in that song to build it.
This project is instrumental and experimental. It's not that I preffer this kind of music it's just that we wanted to do instumental music. I also have a band called Cirse (www.cirse.com.ar) that has a female singer but it's not progressive.
Gabriel.-
pd: I'll try to get that Threshold albums.
Oh wow!
Gabriel, I listened to your songs with Digital Fear and really REALLY love it!!!!! Is there an album to buy anywhere? Simply brilliant stuff..... Do you also play bass on it? And who the hell is this AWESOME female vocalist on track two about Venus? Why don't you have her on all the tracks, do you prefer instrumental songs?
Damian Wilson, you are right, was the vocalist on the first and third - and now most likely to be again - on their ninth studio album. If album 1 and 3 you heard and liked, then you should definitely check out Threshold's more recent work with Mac, who now left the band a couple of months ago, a week (!) before the tour...... Damian, who in general is a most acclaimed vocalist in the prog world, jumped in - again.
Phew, I soooo like your stuff! Powerful, great melodies, interesting harmonies, tension, soul, spirit, groove - all I love in music. No wonder I'm into your lessons most of all on GMC.
I know them! I like their sound and their singer... Damian Wilson.. I think that this was his name.
gabriel.-
If you like the sound of this lesson, then you will love
THReSHoLD !!!
If you don't know them, you MUST check them out here:
www.myspace.com/thresholdofficial
Try the song "Mission Profile" and you'll know what I mean.
Threshold to me are the *true* (but still hidden) Gods of progmetal. Dream Theater sound stale and sterile in comparison.
But anyway, my favourite lesson so far on GMC!
Very nice, even if a little bit fast for a beginner like me^^! Thanx!!!
nice work another great lesson
This is Sympony-X - Sea of lies from Divine Wings of Tragedy isn't it? Or at least inspired by its spirit:)
Anyway, I love Symphony-X => its great:)
It's Dream Theater and Sun Caged
Thanks Gustavo! No es una cancion de mi banda, solo un ejercicio de técnica inspirado en Symphony. No hay problema con que sea parecido al comienzo.
sea of lies
muy wena gfabi
Loven this lession, im a fan of symphony haha the only thing id love to see more than good prog metal lession would be an opeth lession
Very nice lesson. Definately learned something here
Si! Ahi estuve. Tremendo show!
fuistes a ver a symphony x el 13? yo no pude x la plata :S XD
linda leccion
Many of you said that Nevermore is a good band! I have never paid attention to this band but I'll listen to them and then I'll tell you!
I could do this list of top GMC prog metal bands based on your comments:
1. Dream Theater
2. Symphony X
3. Opeth
4. Nevermore
Great lesson! Just what I needed, a great sounding rythm guitar lesson that's in my skill range:) My favourite prog metal band is Opeth, theres really nothing that comes close in my opinion, even though Nevermore, Memfis, Nahemah etc, are great aswell.
dude this sounds like a Symphony X song.
+1 for Dream Theater. Always loved their songs, but never really tried to play anything that style, thanks.
faveriot prog bands, dream theater, symphony x, porcupine tree, opeth, queensryche, pink floyd, the doors, kings x, equililbrium, wintersun, amorphis, rhapsody, the human abstract, priestess, megadeth, staind, stone sour, testament, the mars volta
in no particular order all for different reasons, dream theater: brilliant guitar and drums (john petrucci mike portnoy), symphony x amazing use of aletnate tuning (michael romeo), porcupine tree big fan of the singing and piano, opeth something about them i love and im too lazy to explain the rest
Very cool lesson. I like Nevermore and Communic. They are great progressive metal bands.
And Dream Theater are gods
AWESOME! prog metal is my absolute favorite absolutely wicked lesson! i really enjoyed it
Very cool gabe! Gotta learn this one.
Wonderful lesson. I love the classic prog bands of the 70's too. Without bands like Genesis and Yes, there would not be the great prog bands we have today. How about a Genesis lesson?
I don't know, let me ask it to Kris.
oh sorry forgot to tell you my email lol
ok mine is: [email protected]
If you can do it, that would be great!
Hey Gabe, I dont know if you can do this, but the tab page wont open for me...I've tried so many times but it wont open. Is it possible for you to mail me the tab?
Great lesson, and my favorite Progressive Metal band is Nevermore, absoultely love those guys.
Yeah! It has been inspired in that song, and other songs of Symphony that have very similar riffs and drum work.
christian: I'm not using any effect. It's just the distortion channel of my marshall (8080).
Bjoerne: Hey, Opeth is a very interesting band! I haven't listened to Camel...
The riff sounds alot like Sea of Lies
Nice lesson - as soon as i heard the first second of it i knew it has something to do with Symphony X! Good job Gabriel!
What kind of effects are u using?
Thanks
I totally Agree, Dream Theater are The Kings...The Masters !
All the musicians are geniuses
This Lesson is Also Awesome
Awsome! Exellent sound and composition, i really like it!
