    In my previous shred lesson I included some 16th note fast runs, however they were arranged in a 3 note per string scale pattern as shown below.

    The problem this presents is that the click will not fall every 3 notes, thus makes it harder to follow, we have to forget about the shape and concentrate on the sound itself, we have to get used to hearing that click every 4 notes.

    I have only gone up to 160 bpm here, the purpose here is not developing blazing fast lightning speed, but rather good timing at a moderate speed which is much more important, before going to fast insane shred. It is important to practice these patterns with a click, starting slowly and increasing the speed gradually.

    I have included 6 patterns here, some of which I have used in some of my solos, these should help you get started into playing this type of 16th note runs on a 3 note per string scale shape.
