Hi GMC! Today we’ll talk about Blues rhythm. The rhythm is one of the most important things in blues. We need a strong felt rhythm if we want to have a good blues. You should feel it when you are playing a rhythmic part as well as when you are soloing.
The shuffle is the most common rhythm in blues. It uses the first and the last note of a eighth note triplet to create the blues feeling. Accentuating the first note of each triplet is the most common way to play it and make it sound natural.
I prepared this lesson to get into this feeling. I tried to create an amazing blues in A where we could combine blues rhythmical stuff and some scale licks.
This is a dominant blues. It means that the basic blues chord progression is using dominant chords (I7 – IV7 – V7). I used dominant arpeggios and Am pentatonic to compose the guitar parts.
Get fun!
