  • Hi Guys, today I wanna spot an important problem that I've encountered while listening to recordings that some of you send to me over MSN: Bending. I've a lot of GMCer on my buddy list, and if there is a common problem, on all the recording I had the pleasure to listen (and now I have to say that the recording quality of most of you really impressed me) is bending intonation, one of the most difficult techniques to master, specially for beginners. So here is comes a specific study, that gives you the opportunity to improve.

E minor Bending Workout - Full & Half
    -------------------------------------

The exercise concentrate on a scalar line, from the E minor scale, played first without bending, to hear the target note correctly and then, while that pitch, still ringing in your ears, play it againg with bending.

    Techniques Focus
    ----------------

Movement should alway comes from the wrist, without raising your shoulder, and using the thump anchored over the neck.

Bending: you simply a hit a note and during the sound of the note, you begin to bend the string up or downwards to reach another note.

Pre-bends: pull up the string, before you hit the string. That means that you only hear the bended note coming down.

    Release-Bend: The opposite motion.

    Pro Tips
    --------

To really master this techniques, practice this exercise in different key.
