  • Hello Everyone! This lesson is another guitar solo from a composition I co-wrote with my brother. The music that we make together is mostly acoustic/soft rock, but every now and then we make a Hard Rock or heavy metal tune, this one was intended to be somewhat of a blend between hard rock you hear on the radio, with progressive rock.

It is in the D natural minor for the most part, but I do use introduce Db which is part of the D harmonic minor scale.

Here I am introducing something that I like to do a lot: stretching, ever since I started playing lead it was my goal to come up different patterns, of course there is a chance that someone has done it before (most likely someone has), this is kind of my variation from what I have seen from Paul Gilbert and Dimebag.

I also show a combination of a 3 string sweep picking arpeggio with alternate picking in between, kind of developing a little over the basic 3-string arpeggios made famous by Yngwie Malmsteen.

Finally we end up with alternate picking and chromatics a la John Petrucci.

I have provided backing tracks at 185, 170, 139, 92 and 46, at 46 it way to slow, but there it is in case you have any use for it.

Hopefully you guys will find this lesson entertaining and challenging at the same time, any feedback is appreciated.

    Jose
