  • Hello GMC and welcome to my third lesson.

Today we are going to dig into some dark and melodic picking. The idea behind this lesson is learning how to develop independence in our playing. This is a very important aspect of guitar playing if you plan to play with other musicians. An easy riff can suddenly become very hard to play if the time signature changes. That is because we rely more on the drums then our selves.

In this case were going to play a riff in 3/4 over a 3/4 drum pattern. After 2 rounds the drums will change to 4/4 but we'll still be playing the same 3/4 on guitar. That is the tricky part. The way we'll want to approach this is learning to play the riff first flawless in 3/4. Then focus on maintaining the 3/4 pattern eventhough the drums change to 4/4. There is no way around it other then to just PRACTISE :)
    Good luck!

    Tuning: E
    Key: Em
    Tempo/time signature: 140BPM - 3/4 & 4/4.
