Think I might start practicing this again. Way back to the beginning I go!
Well it ain't much of a mystery but also it is not
important fact for this lesson, that's a technique called "raking".
But you're right, it'll come natural to you after a while and with more practicing.
Here's the explanation tho.
I hit both B and G string with the pick while I'm fretting B string only.
G string is muted by very tip of my fingertip and once I perform bend
on B string the G string is fully silent.
Muris, you get a great sound at the start of a lot of your bends. In this lesson it's most pronounced at the start of the last note, in the section 8 video clip. It sounds like you're striking two strings, but immediately letting one mute as you shift into the bend. However, I can't replicate it. Can you clarify what you're doing, or is this just a mystery that will come to me with more practice?
Cheers guys.
Very interesting solo, great work ! I've always found the Lydian a bit odd-sounding :S
great lesson!!! my fingers are going to have wider soloing range by practicing this lesson
Thanks Ian.
Nice lesson Muris, love the sound very vai-ish!
That's great to hear Pedro, rock it out.
This is awesome Muris.. after 3 minutes i had it by rote. Nice feeling also.
thx muris
Thanks Shammy.
And spot on,technique wise it is beginner level
but note choice and phrasing is probably a bit higher,
which hopefully gives you more boost to practice.
Great job Muris!!!
Hey this may be labeled Beginner but your phrasing and the overall way you put this together is definitely the work of a pro. Nice work
Hi Kevin.
You guessed it right,
what determes mode is usualy chord in backing, root chord actually,
In E Lydian that would be E major chord.
And if you use same scale but with B chord as a root,
you'll get pure B major scale.
So yes.that would be a chord in backing.
Hi, nice piece of music. As I'm still trying decipher 'modes', could you explain (in as simple terms as poss!), what makes this piece sound 'Lydian'. I know this is because of the intervals, and if this is E Lydian, it must have the same notes as B major (er, I mean B Ionian...), ie, B C# D# E F# G# A#. What specifically gives the Lydian feel? Is the backing chord structure bring out the lydian? What would you do to make it sound like another mode, without changing the actual notes you're playing? Can I guess that to make this piece Lydian, the chords would be based on the tonic (E), the 3rd (G#), the 5th (, and maybe the 7th (A#)? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 1,3,5, and 7 notes ware the most 'important' in a mode, with a tendency to keep away from the diminished chord as it leads away from the modal feel. Hope this 'comment' isn't too long!
Kevin
Thanks
Cool lesson. I keep finding myself wanting to play the simpsons theme! haha
Muris - Thank you for this lesson...it is brilliant! As a beginner, I really feel like I am playing a song here instead of just some scales!
I checked it and you're right Kris,they don't play,
only looped one is playing properly.
Is it something caused by me during upload or?
Just noticed backings don't play - reporting the problem right away!
great lesson Muris
Cheers guys
Well done Muris.
Nice lesson from a great player!
Ouch,thanks for input,
will be fixed ASAP!
Sorry if I'm wrong but shouldnt the tab thing for video box 3 be --------11g12--11 instead or

Just perfect Muris - this sounds aboslutely awesome without being very difficult. Also checking the tab with chords notated really helped me get a feel for the lydian scale in a context. Excellent lesson - thanks!
