Metal Solo Licks

For the last bit with the Speed picking lick, when I see you playing it up to speed it looks to me like 1 continuous upward motion, like economy picking, I just needed a little clarification becuase i've noticed this alot with other guitarists and was wonding if it is straight-up Alternet picking motion.

by da way in this video i notice u keep ur thumb on the top of the fretboard. wen r u sposed to put it at the top and wen r u suposed to keep in centre of the neck?

i think this myt be related to fret dancers question except that im busy on the first video. hw would u practise that piece to a metronome cuz it has alot of different notes (sixteenth , eight, eight and a half) any tips?

hey pavel, great lesson, im currently practicing the Sweep + Tapping lick in Video 2. I can play the lick pretty good, muting is great, but i cant play it at speed. So i decided to try with a metronome, but idk what metronome settings to use to start. Can you help me. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm practicing this bit, but I was wondering how most of you guys do the fast hammer-on/pull-off part.

The way I do it now is making a downward motion during the righthand pull-offs and and upward motion during the lefthand pull-offs.

Is that the way it should be done? To me it seems the easiest way to do it.

Great lesson ,I love how you and william are coming out with more lessons.So far you have been my favorite to learn from.This one will take me some time.Thanks for another great lesson.Also maybe you could make a lesson on how to mute the other strings when playing solo's to keep it nice and clean sounding.I have a bit of trouble when trying to play some solo's without it sounding sloopy.A lesson where you are explaining how to play smooth with no extra noise would benifit a lot of us here i think.Hope you understand what im talking about.Thanks Shredmandan

In the riff from video 5 what harmony do you use?

i dont know why, but i see quite an iced earth influence in there, or atleast some cool stuff like IE Solo's

when you do a tril, it looks like your doing a verry fast hammer-on pullof. is this correct? cause i don't know that a trill is

I like the parts where you show your fingers moving very slowly and clearly. That makes things easier to learn. The lessons on this site are unsurpassed in the known universe, IMHO. I still think that hole in the body of your guitar is a bottle opener.

last note in the tab text is on the wrong string, Its in a minor and he does indeed end on A, but its marked as a D...just letting ya know.
