In my opinion this exercise is one of the most important for developing speed, stamina and accuracy in alternate picking. I taught this lesson ( and it's variations) to 99 % of my students. Another thing is I always use these 3 notes per string scales 'cause I can cover all of the neck while improvising or constructing a solo. I also practice this exercise whenever I can. Franz Liszt once said: " If I don't practice for a day, I will notice it while playing. If I don't practice for 2 days, the fellow musicians will notice it. If I don't play for 3 days, the public will definitely notice it."
So I practice these scales whenever I can.

I've included the fingerings in jpg format.
