  • In today's lesson, we'll study a 60 second instrumental piece called Trinity. The song includes many different guitar techniques and requires a good solid understanding of rhythm placement.

    Study these parts very slowly and with a metronome. Make sure everything sounds as clean as possible before playing full speed.

    Notice the intro that alternates a 4/4 time signature (4 quarter note beats per measure) and a 7/8 time signature (7 eighth notes per measure).

    As far as the key, we'll use more than one.

    The intro uses the B harmonic minor starting on the E note. That mode can be seen as a Dorian with a #4th.

    The main theme will start with an F# Dorian mode played on F# minor and E Major.

    We'll then modulate to C# Dorian on C# minor and F# 7.

    Then we'll use a G Lydian followed by A Mixolydian mode.

    The end will focus on an E Aeolian and E minor pentatonic scale.
