Location: Essex, England
Date of Birth: 01.02.1984
Been playing guitar since: 1998

I have lived my whole life in the South of England just a short train ride from central London so the music scene has always played a big part in my life, and my dad's great musical taste definitely steered me in the right direction. Despite this I didn't pick up my first instrument until I was 14 years old and very much found thing that was missing. I'd always been artistic growing up but never applied this to anything musical.

After playing guitar for 2 years I went to college and studied a BTEC National Diploma in Popular music and achieved grade 8 in Electric guitar and electric bass in my 2 years on the course. With my qualifications I began to teach locally and moved on to teach at a local music academy soon after. I teach full time around Essex at schools, music academies and privately in my studio & on Skype.

Blues and roots music has always been a mainstay in my playing but I enjoy the variety of styles/techniques I cover while teaching my students.

The other side of my work is composing for media, I regularly work on commissions from animation and design companies for all sorts of musical styles from orchestral scores to electronic sound design. Some clients of note are MTV, Selfridges & Pan Macmillan publishers.

All in all I love music and try to experience all aspects and all forms.

Playing and Influences
My biggest influence has and will always be Jimi Hendrix, his approach to the guitar was extremely expressive and he really did set the benchmark for future innovators to build from. A few other notable players are Jimmy Page, John McLaughlin, Derek Trucks, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Nick Drake, Bert Jansch.

At GMC
Iโ€™m really happy to be able to share some of the things I've picked up over the years and for all GMC to join me on this bluesy journey.
