  • Hi GMC!

Welcome to my new lesson in the style of this amazing band called Greta Van Fleet, an Amerigan rock band formed in 2012 in Michigan.

    Music Style:
The band plays a heavy rock style very influenced by Led Zeppelin and other 70’s rock and blues bands. The guitar style has strong influences by Jimmy Page, but also by other guitarists like John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, Eric Clapton and Keith Richards. In this lesson, I’ve covered their rocker side that can be found in songs like Safari Song and Highway Tune.

    Tonality, Chord Progression & Scales:
They sounds like a band from the 70’s but in a very good sense. They play rock and blues so their obviously make a great use of the typical scales, keys and chords. You’ll find a lot of Pentatonics, Mixolydian, Dorian, Dominant and other blues elements in their songs. This tune is in A Mixolydian and the chord progression are some of the most used in classic rock tunes.

    Techniques:
In this lesson I combine many techniques like Hybrid Picking, Legato, Bending, Vibrato and Alternate Picking. Here we’ll combine lead and rhythm elements.

    Sound:

I used Fractal Ax8's Jumped Plexi tone, Cubase 9.5 to record audio and midi, Addictive Drums II for drums and Trillian for bass.
