  • Hi GMC-ers!

    Welcome to my new lesson.

    I had a lot of thinking lately about what kind of music would I gladly play if I were invited to a rock band? It had to be cool, modern, but at the same time crushing and full of melodies. Now how can I accomplish that? If I'd play some bluesy riffs full of crazy vibrato and screaming harmonics, I'd had down the guitar part, but the chorus should be melodic.

    So here is an example of what I think is cool and a few bands have done it before.

    The song starts out with a heavy riff with screaming harmonics. The verse part is heavier and more agressive, but the vocals would be melodic. The chorus part would be fully singable by anyone who likes the '80s glam and hard rock bands.

    In this riffs lesson we will use the following techniques:
    * Artificial harmonics
    * Bends
    * Slides
    * Riffs/Rhythms

    Have fun practicing!

    -Zsolt
