  • In today's lesson we'll talk about improvisation in a fusion context. What we'll try to do here is to build some small melodic segments using some basic scales. As you can hear in the main video, we'll encounter a modulation which means that we'll have to prepare our transition smoothly.

The track is made of two distinct parts. We'll start in the key of C Dorian, then modulate to A Dorian. In order to accomplish this lesson's goal, you need to be very comfortable with both scales so that when the modulation arrives, you know your options as far as the notes go.

Practice all the licks slowly with precision, then try to make up your own licks over the looped backing track. As always, I'd be happy to answer all your questions!

    Have fun and practice well!
