  • Hi GMC! This lesson is about the solo style of Mr Paul Gilbert. This extraordinary player has some extraordinary licks that I wanted to share with you in this lesson.

The techniques that we are using in this lesson are:

    -String skipping
    -Legato
    -Alternate picking
    -Tapping

The tempo is quarter = 160

I've tried to include some riffs kind of the once that he uses in Mr Big; a tricky tapping lick that I've seen him doing and that sounds really great, seems really difficult but it's not; the break in the middle of the lesson is taken of one of his instrumental songs (Scarified); and there are some pentatonic kind of arpeggios too.

I hope you enjoy the lesson as I did composing it!
