Even the guys from Exodus said in an Interview that they cheat sometimes and don't play downstrokes because it's too fast But not a problem for our Zsolt:O Very nice.

No problem
The guitar has it's own sound as well, but in my oppinion you can achieve the sound with almost every Line6 POD or similar effect like the Toneport.

cool lesson Zsolt, can you tell me which scales are typical for Thrash Metal(exspa. Bay Area)?
The most typical are the Blues Pentatonic, the Phrygian, Phrygian Dominant, the Diminished, and a lot of Chromatic scales.Sixteen notes on 125 bmp with downpicking is difficulty 3? OMG You are a monster! Can You play on 150 with downpicking? You know how to play metal
I just tryed it, and I needed to relax my right hand a bit to be able to do it on 150. In a 5-10 minutes I was able to do it.
One of my earliest inspirations was Metallica, and my favorite album was Master of Puppets. I used to play that all day long, even had a Metallica tribute band. We used to play Master of Puppets all by downstrokes as it was played by HetfieldGreat! Sounds a lot like modern Exodus stuff.
We need more lessons in this style! Really fast ones with difficult rythm varations would be great!
What about german, canadian or brazilian old school thrash!? Would be great too!

Hi GMC-ers,
And welcome to another riffs/rhythm lesson. This time we will focus on the Bay Area Thrash riffing, in the style of Slayer and Exodus.
The San Francisco Bay Area, California is considered as the starting location of the Thrash scene. It all began in the mid 80's, when bands like Exodus, Metallica, Athrax and Slayer wanted to create a heavyer and faster style of music in the metal genre. Although rooted in the New Wave of Brithish Heavy Metal style, these bands developed their own distinct sound. The most influential records are Metallica's "Kill 'em All", Exodus's "Bonded by Blood" and Slayer's "Reign in Blood".
This lesson tries to display the very sound and style of the Thrash scene. When playing the rhythm parts, try to pick downwards only.
The song consist of the main riff, the verse, the bridge and the chorus. For the whole song, play the whole lesson twice, and if you feel, you can add a solo section to it.
Although this lesson is played in D tuning ( D, G, C, F, A, D ), the early Thrash records were tuned to E and E-flat.
