  • Brian May is one of the most melodic guitar players in the world of modern music. His style and sense of melody are very inspirational and we'll discuss some of the elements that make him so recognizable.

The main purpose here is to develop some very strong melodies that will hopefully stick to the listener's ear. IN order to do that, we'll try to set the guitar aside while we listen to the track to avoid any commonly heard licks. We'll try to sing a melody over the backing track and reproduce that on the instrument. You don't need to be a good singer to do that.

That should help you come up with a theme that comes from your heart, not from your fingers. We won't talk about scales here, as the goal is to come up with something that is heartfelt. For those of you who have trouble doing that, I will just leave you with the E Major scale which should work well for you.

Have fun, and please forgive my singing!
